Summary


Shrugging off a slow start, the No. 15-ranked Pitt men's basketball team overpowered South Carolina State in the second half and collected a 69-55 nonconference win today at the Petersen Events Center.

In the Panthers' first game since freshman forward and former McDonald's All-American Khem Birch decided Friday to leave the team for personal reasons, another of their young stars, sophomore forward Lamar Patterson, tied a career high and led the Panthers with 16 points.
