Two candidates for Allegheny County Council are getting a head start by winning appointments this week to fill two council vacancies.
Public policy teacher Barbara Daly Danko, 57, of Regent Square will take over for Rich Fitzgerald in District 11, which stretches from Shadyside south through the Mon Valley to Lincoln Place and Munhall. Attorney Edward J. Kress, 39, of Shaler will be the Republicans' new at-large councilman, one of two council members who represent the entire county.
