After weeks of rushing to make a decision that could net local districts hundreds of thousands of dollars, Pennsylvania school officials must wait until April to find out if they will get a cut of $4.35 billion in federal stimulus money being awarded nationwide.

Thirteen Allegheny County districts are among the 120 statewide that will be eligible for the up to $400 million in grants Pennsylvania could receive in the Race to the Top program. Up to $200 million could be divided among the districts and 59 charter schools. The rest could pay for statewide initiatives benefiting all districts.
