HARRISBURG -- A state police trooper drives Gov. Ed Rendell around the state in a 2008 Cadillac DTS, and the governor has a 2007 model as a backup.

Taxpayers are footing the bill for those and more than 16,600 other vehicles, according to an audit released Friday by Auditor General Jack Wagner, who drives a state-paid 2005 Ford Explorer.
