Summary
A former Braddock police sergeant claims in a federal lawsuit that the borough fired him after he complained about other officers violating people's rights.
Fred A. King Jr., who also is a police officer for Swissvale, says in the lawsuit filed Thursday he was working as the shift supervisor in September 2007 when he started making routine complaints to Chief Frank DeBartolo about officers using excessive force, making false arrests and seizing money from drug dealers without reporting it. Police officers also were handing out baseless traffic citations so that they could get paid for court time, according to the lawsuit against the borough, DeBartolo and Mayor John Fetterman.See the full content of this document
