Long before the Rivers Casino began airing its "Get Ready" adds, Jody Bechtold was doing just that.

A field director with the University of Pittsburgh's School of Social Work, Bechtold helped build a network of counselors and centers to treat gambling addiction. As many as 3 percent of people who play the slots at Rivers will be problem gamblers, judging by studies of other casinos, said Bechtold, who was one of the first people in Pennsylvania to become a nationally certified addiction counselor.
