Members of the Oakland Zoo, the boisterous Pitt student section at Petersen Events Center, showed their heart Wednesday night by handing out red ribbons to fans at the in a display of support for the tragedy-stricken Duquesne basketball team. Five Dukes players were injured in a Sept. 17 on-campus shooting incident, and all of them were in attendance last night, including Sam Ashaolu, the most seriously injured. One, guard Aaron Jackson, has started every game so far for Duquesne, but the others are continuing to recover.

* Duquesne's Kieron Achara, a redshirt junior forward, saw his first action of the regular season. The 6-foot-10 Achara, who played in only one preseason game for the Dukes, missed Duquesne's first six regular-season games with stress fractures in his left foot. Achara, the Atlantic 10 Conference's most improved player as a sophomore in 2004-05, scored his first points on a jumper with 8:45 remaining in the first half.
