Summary
Jeff Clement had successful surgery on his left knee Thursday in Colorado. The procedure, performed by Dr. Richard Steadman, was described by the Pirates as a "microfracture procedure on the non- weight bearing portion of the knee." The first baseman's season ended earlier this month when he pulled his left oblique muscle while rehabbing the knee injury with Triple-A Indianapolis. Rehabilitation should take approximately six months, the team said, and the Pirates expect the 27-year-old to be ready for spring training.
The Pirates will honor left-hander Rudy Owens as their minor league Pitcher of the Year and outfielder Alex Presley as their minor league Player of the Year before today's game. This is the second year in a row Owens has won the award; he was 12-6 with a 2.46 ERA and 132 strikeouts in 26 starts with Double-A Altoona. Presley hit a combined .320 with 13 triples, 12 home runs and 85 RBI in 136 games between Altoona and Triple-A Indianapolis.See the full content of this document
