13-Year-Old West Deer Boy Wounded by Pellets From Shotgun Shell

A 13-year-old West Deer boy was treated Sunday at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC after being shot in the cheek, but the wound didn't come from a gun.

Police Chief Jonathan Lape said several youths were throwing bricks and rocks at live shotgun shells at about 5 p.m. at Curtisville Park when one of the shells went off after being struck. Pellets hit the boy in the face.
