Chesapeake Energy Inc. used 2-Butoxyethanol, ammonium chloride and hydrochloric acid among 70,000 pounds of chemicals at a Bradford County well that polluted private water supplies in an April spill, newly released documents show.
The chemicals, which are standard in shale drilling fluid, were listed on state well reports obtained in a federal records request, according to the website Natural Gas Watch, which posted the documents and notified state senators about them this week. Water and sand made up almost 99 percent of the fluid, according to documents Chesapeake itself provided on Frac Focus, an industry-run registry.See the full content of this document
