Regarding the editorial "Fighting drugs: A better way" (April 27 and TribLIVE.com): It appears that the individual who has concocted such an immoral opinion has never tasted the ravages of substance abuse or addiction within his or her immediate family. In a society that is plagued with addiction and abuse of legal and illegal substances that alter the mind, attitude, perception and work ethic, the writer either enjoys a drug of choice or is out of touch with reality!
The United States of America is inundated with drug and alcohol abuse and addiction. Whether it is the abuser or others close to the abuser, drug abuse reaches out with poisonous spines to prick the lives of all who know the abuser.
