Duquesne Light Program Aims at Cutting Air-Conditioner Use

Duquesne Light Co.'s residential and small- and medium-sized business customers who enroll in a program to cut their air- conditioner use on hot days next summer will get a $32 check next fall, the electric company said on Monday.

The Downtown-based utility has about 1,000 customers enrolled in the program, and it plans to cap participation at 1,500 customers, said David DeFide, manager of energy efficiency. Duquesne Light serves more than 500,000 customers, mainly in Allegheny and Beaver counties.
