Flagman Critically Hurt When Struck by Auto

A flagman working along Route 66 in Armstrong County was critically injured Thursday when he was hit by a car.

Allen Shearer, 49, of Shelocta, a two-year employee of PennDOT, was directing traffic shortly before 11 a.m. near the intersection of Route 66 and Scout Run Road in Manor Township when he was hurt. A car driven by Helen Klingensmith, 73, of Ford City, struck Klingensmith, then went into an embankment, rolled over and landed on its wheels, police said. Klingensmith was injured.
