Summary
It is completely absurd for Teresa Platt of Fur Commission USA to bemoan the "inhumane deaths" of minks released in raids on fur farms like one June 6 in Butler County ("Mink farmers vs. PETA," June 22 and PghTrib.com) when the organization she represents is one of the most inhumane industries in existence: one that subjects millions of individuals to unbearable suffering and violent deaths all for the sake of a frivolous vanity product.
The Fur Commission's feigned compassion would be humorous if the issue wasn't so serious. Minks suffer terribly in the intensive confinement of fur farms, and they often develop neurotic pacing and self-mutilation behavior, caused by chronic stress, boredom, deprivation and an inability to adapt to their surroundings. After this traumatic existence, they face painful deaths by gassing, poisoning or neck breaking.See the full content of this document
