Summary
In her letter "Biased about strike" (Aug. 18 and TribLIVE.com), Nancy Feth of Ross, wife of a then-striking Verizon employee, asks, "Why is the Trib not supporting the average middle-class American?" With all due respect, her husband is not the "average middle-class American."
"Average middle-class Americans" do not have job security, but instead are at-will employees of small businesses. They contribute approximately 24 percent of their health insurance premiums; can only dream of a defined-benefits pension at retirement, considering themselves lucky if their company offers a 401(k) program; and don't really think, care or even know what their boss makes per day.See the full content of this document
