24/7 and Beyond: Episode 2 Recap
The only knock against the second episode of HBO's "24/7 Penguins-Capitals Road to the Winter Classic" was that it didn't top Episode I. Then again, what could? Producers pushed the envelope to capture the Washington Capitals' losing-streak snapping victory and Penguins center Evgeni Malkin's five-point performance. Each even occurred in the final days before the episode was to be completed. "The closer the games are to our Wednesday night weekly premiere, the tougher our jobs become in the edit room," coordinating producer Bentley Weiner said. "For the Pens' Monday night game against the Coyotes, we received the footage here in New York early Tuesday morning and didn't start putting the segment together until much later that day, after we had watched all the tapes. It was a scramble but worth it to be able to show the Penguins rebounding from their back-to-back losses to the Flyers and Rangers."See the full content of this document
