Health Care's 'Untouchable' Cost

Summary


Here we go again -- health care reform. Unlike "Hillarycare," President Obama promises even more for the consumer and taxpayer: expanded coverage for all, citizen and noncitizen, courtesy of the U.S. government.

Obamacare sounds so progressive, grand, compelling. Yet noticeably missing again are trial lawyers. Like all previous reform proposals out of Washington, the great untouchable has been reining in the medical malpractice lawyer. Yet malpractice lawsuits are a major reason why costs are what they are. Just think: Under Obamacare, 40 million to 50 million, now uninsured, may have coverage. The trial lawyers will hit the mother of all jackpots.
