The Senator John Heinz History Center and a 600-member community group each want to take over management of the Fort Pitt Museum in Point State Park, slated to close July 1 because of state budget cuts.

The History Center's proposal and one by the Friends of the Fort Pitt Museum will be discussed at a public hearing in Pittsburgh City Council Chambers beginning at 9:30 a.m. today.
