Summary
We are living in hard times. Many Americans have lost their jobs, homes and health care. Families with members who have disabilities have always struggled to make it every day.
I was happy to see a home care worker quoted in "At Labor Day Parade, unions back health care reform, free choice" (Sept. 8 and TribLIVE.com). Attendants do important but demanding work. Unfortunately, low pay and lack of benefits make it hard for many caregivers to stay in such jobs.
