Upper St. Clair High School teacher Junko Kapples and her 14 Japanese language students are working hard to bring home the "ittosho" trophy.

That's the first-place trophy that will be awarded Saturday during the Japanese Speech and Language Contest. The competition, sponsored by the Japan-America Society of Pennsylvania, involves 75 students from eight local schools or districts. Hiroshi Takashima, cultural attache from the Japanese consulate in New York, will attend.
