Summary
The Pittsburgh region's unemployment rate rose to its highest level in nearly 16 years in March, jumping 0.3 of a percentage point to 7.2 percent, the state said Tuesday.
The increase was the seventh consecutive month of rising unemployment in the seven-county region and was 2.5 percentage points above the March 2008 jobless rate of 4.7 percent, the state said.
