Lawmaker Hopes Accusations Won't Deter Plan for Iraq

Summary


Charges that Marines killed two dozen Iraqi civilians in November should be thoroughly investigated, but the U.S. should stay the course, a state lawmaker and ex-Marine says.

"There's the honor and integrity of the Corps ... they need to investigate this," state Sen. John Pippy, R-Moon, said last week shortly before speaking to about 30 members of the Bridgeville Area Historical Society. "I do have a lot of concerns, but I will leave it to the professionals to see that this matter gets taken care of the right way."
