News of the resignation of Pittsburgh Opera general director Mark Weinstein at the end of October had a positive spin. He's going to the much larger Washington National Opera in the nation's capitol to work with superstar tenor Placido Domingo, and leaves Pittsburgh Opera in a much healthier state than when he arrived.
The very stability that Weinstein achieved during his 10 years with the opera encourages viewing the myriad choices now facing the opera's board of directors as an opportunity to take the company to the next step.
