Man Killed, Woman Injured in Franklin Park Crash

Summary

A man was killed and a woman injured after speeding past a police officer and crashing into a creek early this morning in Franklin Park.

The man was identified as Bryan Viviani, 37, of Coraopolis, according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office. A Franklin Park officer was stopped doing paperwork in his patrol car when he saw an Audi sports car speed by him about 2 a.m. on Route 910, Franklin Park police Chief Don Dorsch said. The officer tried to catch up with the Audi when he saw it make an abrupt right turn onto Wexford Run Road, which is a very sharp bend, Dorsch said. The officer lost sight of the car and called for back-up, Dorsch said. A back-up officer saw a cloud of dust and debris at the bend, looked over the hill and saw the car on its roof, Dorsch said. Viviani was ejected from the vehicle, Dorsch said. He was pinned under the car, submerged in the creek, Dorsch said. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was taken to Allegheny General Hospital with non- life threatening injuries, Dorsch said.
