A Pittsburgh venture capitalist said Tuesday he won't challenge Sen. Arlen Specter in the Republican primary but will support someone else.

"I've been talking with other candidates (including Rep. Pat Toomey), and I am 100 percent confident we're going to have a strong candidate to run against Arlen Specter," said Glen Meakem, who criticized Specter for supporting President Obama's $787 billion stimulus package. Specter and two other Republican senators broke with their party to provide the votes necessary to prevent a filibuster.
