No Mining Under Historic Farm, Coal Firm Says

An Oklahoma coal company said on Friday it doesn't plan to mine coal using a longwall machine beneath a historic Washington County farm.

Alliance Resource Partners released a statement saying its subsidiary, Penn Ridge LLC, "has no intention to longwall mine under any part of a property identified as an endangered site by the National Trust for Historic Preservation." Company representatives did not return calls seeking comment.
