Pennsylvania ranks first in America for structurally deficient bridges and our transportation budget is facing a $2 billion shortfall. Department of Public Welfare Secretary Gary Alexander has led the way in saving taxpayers $25.1 million so far this year. He removed 113,000 cases from the state's Medicaid program. Among those ineligible beneficiaries were those who had left the state, died or were not qualified to receive benefits.
Before the House Majority Policy Committee, Deputy Executive Secretary Tim Costa said their reforms will save the state up to $471 million this budget year, and $200 million just by continuing to weed out fraud. Alexander found that our tax dollars were being spent on bowling alleys, fancy chandeliers and hot tubs that were permitted under the last administration.
