In his column "Enabling more union damages" (Jan. 3 and TribLIVE.com), Ralph R. Reiland, Robert Morris University economics professor, wrote that "General Motors ... now employs 52,000 hourly workers in the United States, down 89 percent from its 468,000 hourly employees in 1970."
