As expected, the Pirates have signed free agent shortstop Clint Barmes to a two-year deal which sources say is worth $10.5 million. Barmes came to Pittsburgh today for a physical and the team announced the deal this afternoon.
The 32-year-old infielder played for Pirates manager Clint Hurdle while both were with the Colorado Rockies organization. Barmes played for the Rockies from 2003 to 2010 and played last season in Houston. He hit .244 with 12 home runs and 39 RBI and a .698 OPS for the Astros and had a .978 fielding average.See the full content of this document
