Orie Gets Chance to Argue Appeal

Summary


The Pennsylvania Supreme Court sent Sen. Jane Orie's double jeopardy appeal in her public corruption case back to Superior Court on Thursday in an order straightening out some tangled case law.

The justices, in a 6-0 ruling, said the Superior Court needs to hold a hearing on the McCandless Republican's claim that going to trial again on the same charges violates her Fifth Amendment right to not be tried twice for the same offense.
