Summary
The Pittsburgh Opera rang in the New Year with a classic Auld Lang Syne celebration on New Year's Eve at the Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland, choosing to debut the first of its kind event during a time when many nonprofits have been forced to cut back on events in order to weather the current economic storm.
"It was a little scary at first, but we ended up having almost 300 people for the concert, so we were really pleased with the turnout," says Kesha Pate, the opera's public relations manager. "Pittsburgh has always been a good opera town. A lot of our supporters have been with us for 50 years, and we are really fortunate that we have a really dedicated, strong base. We're also seeing interest from young people as well which is very important to our future."See the full content of this document
