Republican Sen. Norm Coleman of Minnesota has crafted a novel response to his declining poll numbers -- he's pulling all his negative advertisements off the air, The Hill's Aaron Blake reports. That closes a treasure chest of potential ads, given his opponent, Democrat Al Franken, made his bones as a satirist prone to sometimes- vulgar comic riffs. Coleman is asking his allies to abandon negative campaigning as well. A spokesman for the race's independent candidate, who's running a distant third, said the move was too little, too late. He was skeptical of whether Coleman's call would be heeded by the National Republican Senatorial Committee.
