Port Authority Denies Poor Communication About Plan to Cut, Consolidate Routes

The union representing Port Authority's drivers is urging more public outreach on a plan to cut and consolidate bus and light-rail service, after claiming responsibility for passing out fliers bashing the authority.

Pat McMahon, president of Amalgamated Transit Union Local 85, said the union approved fliers that drivers distributed last week on buses from the Harmar garage on routes to the East End, North Hills and Allegheny Valley. He acknowledged the fliers contained minor errors, but said they originated from poor communication between Port Authority and the union.
