Powertrain Problems Affect Pittsburgh Police Cars

Summary


Drivers of at least a half-dozen Pittsburgh police cars encountered unexplained powertrain problems in the past week, forcing officials to pull the vehicles off the road for repairs, city officials said Friday.

The cars -- all model years 2008 and 2009 -- are being serviced by the city's contracted fleet maintenance provider, First Vehicle Services, said Paul Ostrowski, the city's fleet contract manager.
