Puc Approves Part of Controversial High-Voltage Line

Summary


The state Public Utility Commission by a 4-1 vote this morning approved a 1-1/2-mile portion of the Trans-Allegheny Interstate Line, Allegheny Energy Inc.'s controversial high-voltage transmission line.

In a separate motion, the commission voted 3-2 to stay the remainder of the 37.2-mile portion of the 240-mile transmission line project located in the state, directing the parties to develop alternatives regarding the remainder of the project.
