INDIANA--For years, reconfiguration of Indiana Area schools has been discussed in an informal manner, but school officials now may be ready to seriously address the issue.

At Monday's meeting of the school board, Superintendent Dr. Deborah Clawson presented a status report of the District Facilities Study Group, which has been meeting since the board authorized its creation in December.

The committee was established to help launch a discussion on possible reconfiguraton of schools in the district -- with options including closing an elementary school and/or moving the ninth grade from the junior high to the senior high.

There were 75 people from the district and community in attendance at four meetings of the committee in January and February.
