Don Barden deserves credit for building as much of his North Shore casino as he has, despite a brutal credit market and opposition from some community members, Gov. Ed Rendell said Monday.
Work on the Majestic Star Casino slowed last week when Barden told contractors he didn't have the $10 million he owed them for work performed in April. As workers were being told they shouldn't come back to the job the next day, Barden's spokesman told reporters he got a commitment for $120 million from a Chicago investor and hoped to finalize funding for the $780 million project soon.See the full content of this document
