Summary
OFFENSE: A
The Steelers didn't play the perfect game on Sunday, but they were pretty darn close. Willie Parker came within five yards (213) of the franchise record of rushing yards for a game which is held by Frenchy Fuqua (218). The two knockout punches were runs of 76 and 72 yards that set up TD runs by Parker. And although the running numbers looked great and the Steelers put up 467 total yards, a zero was the most prominent number on the Steelers stat sheet. As in zero turnovers. It's pretty simple now. The Steelers are 3-0 when they win the turnover battle and 0-6 when they lose it. Roethlisberger was very efficient. When he did receive pressure, he was again able to move enough in the pocket to find time. The offensive line gave up only two sacks so the pressure from the Saints was not a factor this week. The receivers also made some big plays including Hines Ward who now has six TDs on the season. Nate Washington did drop two passes. Another key number on the stat sheet was 28. That was the number of passes Big Ben threw in the game - a number that bodes well for the Steelers offense. When Roethlisberger is under 30 throws in a game, the Steelers usually win. And speaking of Big Ben, he looked poised on Sunday and did not force the ball into coverage, a problem that had plagued him during the first half of the season and a big reason he had thrown 14 interceptions prior to the Saints game.See the full content of this document
