Rescuers Pluck Two Teens From Allegheny River

Summary


Two teenagers took an impromptu dip in the Allegheny River beneath the Ninth Street Bridge on last night, requiring help from River Rescue and EMTs to pull them out.

Pittsburgh police Cmdr. Thomas Stangrecki said one of the teens either fell or jumped into the river near the bridge, then had trouble getting out. The other teenager jumped in to help him, then got stuck himself, calling for help until passing pedestrians noticed them and called 911 about 5:30 p.m., dispatchers said.
