Salvation Army's Kettle Campaign Surpasses Record

The Salvation Army reported that its 2009 Red Kettle campaign set a new collection record nationally, and many local branches were among those that exceeded collection goals.

The campaign, which began on Thanksgiving and ran through the end of the year, brought in $139 million. That bested the old record -- set the year before -- of $130 million.
