Senior running back Tyrell Smith rushed for 183 yards and three touchdowns, including two long third-quarter scores, as No. 4 Steel Valley sealed the Class AA Century Conference championship by overcoming a second-half deficit to defeat South Fayette, 20-16, at South Fayette Field on Friday.

Midway through the third quarter, Steel Valley's (8-0, 7-0) unblemished record appeared to be in jeopardy. Its vaunted offense mustered 32 first-half yards, and its defense had yet to find an answer for South Fayette quarterback Jon Taglianatti, who had rushed for 126 first-half yards -- including a 51-yard second quarter score.
