I appreciated Dr. Bill Hennessey's letter "Harsh treatment" (March 3 and TribLIVE.com) on how to lower health care costs. FYI: Prescription drugs take up only 6 percent of the total health care bill; 94 percent is spent before a pharmacist sees the patient.
To cut costs, you must reduce benefits. Bloodwork and imaging must not be done unless the doctor has a good reason. Routine mammograms and MRIs should not be done except for specific complaints.See the full content of this document
