To Joseph Sabino Mistick: In your column "Spreading the risk" (Oct. 10 and TribLIVE.com) you said: "The next time someone tells you that government should be smaller, ask what specific services that person would eliminate, and do not let that person respond with generalities. Demand specifics ..." Here's a specific for you, and I'm surprised you didn't think of it: Get rid of all the "czars" that Obama has appointed -- I believe the number is up to 34 and counting.

Those czars are nothing but a terribly costly superfluous layer of government. I would love to know the amount of money being spent not only on the czars' salaries, but those of their staffs, and on their office spaces, perks, and on and on. And I truly don't think that any citizen would be adversely affected if the czars were to go -- in fact, just the opposite. (Perhaps Obama is right when he claims his administration created jobs -- sadly, they're all the czar jobs.)
