Summary
Ike Taylor started at cornerback Sunday for the Steelers at Heinz Field, after a trying week in which it looked like he had been demoted. Taylor and the secondary looked shaky at times, as New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees threw for 398 yards, but the Steelers got a much-needed, 38-31 win over the Saints. Taylor had six solo tackles. The fourth-year pro said on Wednesday that he had lost his starting job to Bryant McFadden and admitted that it, "kind of hurt my pride." He apparently was up to the challenge issued to him by Steelers coach Bill Cowher, and he rarely received any downtime. Two starters, safety Troy Polamalu and cornerback Deshea Townsend, left the game in the first half with concussions and didn't return. Cowher said he didn't know the severity of the concussions.
