Steelers' Roethlisberger Named Afc Offensive Player of Week

Summary

Offensive tackle Marvel Smith had back surgery Thursday and will miss Sunday's final regular season game at Baltimore. He will not be placed on injured reserve and his status for the Steelers' first- round playoff game has not been determined.

* Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was named AFC offensive player of the week for his performance against the St. Louis Rams. Roethlisberger finished 16-of-20 passing for 261 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions for a perfect passer rating of 158.3. It was his third career perfect passer rating and the second one this season. His three perfect passer rating games ties the Colts' Peyton Manning for the most in league history. Roethlisberger also topped the 3,000-yard passing mark for the second straight season, which ties the team record for consecutive 3,000-yard seasons set by Terry Bradshaw in 1979-80.
