Summary
Universal Stainless & Alloy Products of Bridgeville faces $126,500 in fines from the U.S. Occupational Safety & Health Administration for alleged safety and health violations, the agency said Monday. Universal Stainless, which operates a steel foundry, was cited for one repeat violation that carries a $25,000 fine, and 35 serious violations that carry $101,500 in penalties, OSHA said. Among the serious violations were improper storage of gas cylinders, lacking personal protective equipment for workers using high voltage equipment and various electrical hazards. The investigation stems from a worker suffering an electrical shock in April, the agency said. Universal Stainless, which has 309 workers, can appeal. A spokesman could not be reached for comment Monday.
