Police Use Taser, Pepper Spray, Dog to Subdue Smithfield Man

Summary


A Fayette County man who twice ran from police while handcuffed was taken into custody only after officers used a Taser on him at least five times, hit him once with pepper spray and had a police dog help to subdue him, according to a criminal complaint.

Bruce Anthony Balsega Jr., 24, of 303 Jacobs Creek Road, Smithfield, is charged by Masontown police with escape, flight to avoid apprehension, obstruction of administration of law, disarming a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, defiant trespass, criminal mischief and public drunkenness.
