Summary


A bill on its way to the state Senate would ban texting while driving and make it a primary offense, so police can pull over motorists for violations.

The House voted 188-7 on Monday to approve the bill after little debate. But the House removed a provision that had passed the Senate that would ban talking on cell phones without a hands-free device, among other changes.
