Well, the greatly anticipated apocalypse of 06/06/06 has come and gone and we are still here. At least, I hope so, since these columns are written a few days in advance. But if you are reading this, we made it through -- just as we have done with other scares.
In 1527, a German bookbinder named Hans Nut (this is not made up) declared that he was a prophet of God. Nut claimed that the world as it existed would end within a few years and be followed by a long period of free food and free sex.
