Many Traffic Fatalities Can Be Prevented, Experts Say

"It's got to be so God awful to lose a child," Shook, 56, of Plum recalled telling a store clerk later. "I can only imagine."

Six weeks later, Shook and her family no longer had to imagine. Her son, Richard "Richie" Shook, 18, died in an early-morning wreck at routes 22 and 48 in Monroeville, about a mile from the site of Moy's crash.
